About Mary Jo Cadiz

I was born with color in my veins. As a child, I scribbled on walls before I could walk and doodled in notebooks when I should’ve been paying attention in class. My passion eventually turned into a career as an advertising art director, graphic designer, and illustrator. But painting—whether in watercolor, acrylics, gouache, or mixed media—has always been my true calling. Today, I embrace life as a painter, capturing everything from still lifes to inspiring moments from my travels. I seek to reveal the extraordinary in the ordinary through my work.

Art is a deeply personal journey, and I hope my paintings resonate with others, allowing them to connect with their own experiences and emotions. My goal is to create pieces that invite viewers to reflect on the beauty in life’s often-overlooked details. I love hearing how my work speaks to others, as their perspectives and stories are an essential part of my creative process. I aim to forge a connection that transcends the canvas and speaks directly to the heart.

My work is currently featured at the Inspired Minds Art Center in Buda, Texas. Originally from Chicago, I graduated with a degree in Advertising Design from Columbia College Chicago and now live and work in Austin.
